Looking for a Father’s Day Gift Idea?

Throw Papa on the Train

Skip the predictable gifts this year and give Dad something he’ll actually remember. A scenic train ride through the wild beauty of Arizona’s Verde Canyon is the perfect Father’s Day surprise for dads, grandfathers, and the father figures who keep life on track.

In 1776, a nation set itself in motion. In the decades that followed, railroads helped build America—connecting families, industries, and communities across vast and unforgiving terrain.

This Father’s Day weekend, as the nation celebrates America 250, Verde Canyon Railroad honors the men who helped guide us forward—teaching us the value of hard work, perseverance, and enjoying the journey along the way.

So, go ahead—throw Papa on the Train. He’ll thank you later.

Three All-American Scenic Rides

There are three train rides available during our Father’s Day weekend event, and all journeys depart from the historic Clarkdale depot, a place rooted in Arizona’s copper-mining and railroad heritage. Each option offers a four-hour round-trip journey into a protected wilderness corridor accessible only by rail, following the Verde River through towering red rock cliffs, historic bridges, and a century-old tunnel carved straight through Canyon stone.

Option #1: Classic Train Ride - Morning

Saturday, June 20, 2026 - Departs at 11 a.m.

A morning departure greets the Canyon as it awakens. Early sunlight washes over red rock cliffs, the Verde River glimmers below, and the air feels fresh and unhurried. It’s a peaceful hour when the land tells its story clearly—of endurance, discovery, and the quiet strength that built a nation. As America approaches its 250th year, this experience honors the journeys that shaped the country and the fathers who taught us to appreciate the ride. It’s a meaningful way to spend Father’s Day together—grounded in tradition, natural beauty, and time well shared.

Option #2: Saturday Starlight Adventure

Saturday, June 20, 2026 - Departs at 5:30 p.m.

An afternoon departure captures the Canyon in its most dramatic light. As the sun lowers, red rock cliffs glow, shadows stretch across the river, and the day slows to a quieter rhythm. The starlit skies will take your breath away, as they remind you of the stars on America’s flag and the stars in the eyes of the ones you love. It’s a fitting way to celebrate Father’s Day—and 250 years of American journeys—with reflection, beauty, and time together.

Option #3: Classic Canyon Ride - Afternoon
