Directions from Phoenix to Verde Canyon Railroad
- Allow two hours for the drive
Take I-17 north to exit 287 (Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale). Turn left (west) over the freeway on Hwy 260.
Stay on Hwy 260 for approximately 14 miles to the fifth traffic light. This is Historic 89A/E. Cottonwood St. Turn left at light.
Drive west approximately 4 miles toward Jerome. At the 5th roundabout take the first exit onto Clarkdale Parkway. Travel approximately 1 mile to Main St. Turn right. Travel 1/4 mile to the Main St./N. Broadway intersection. Turn left.
Cross the one-lane bridge and park in the designated parking across the street from the depot.
Directions from Sedona to Verde Canyon Railroad
- Allow 40 minutes for the drive
Go southwest toward Cottonwood on Hwy 89A to Historic 89A/E. Cottonwood St. Turn left at light.
Drive west approximately 4 miles toward Jerome. At the 5th roundabout take the first exit onto Clarkdale Parkway. Travel approximately 1 mile to Main St. Turn right. Travel 1/4 mile to the Main St./N. Broadway intersection. Turn left.
Cross the one-lane bridge and park in the designated parking across the street from the depot.
Get Here Early and Explore the Depot!
Your experience begins at the train’s expansive Clarkdale depot, home to the Copper Spike Café, Boxcar Gift Store and John Bell Museum. Storyboards, overflowing with details on the Verde Canyon adventure, pioneer spirit and railroad lore, are installed along the quarter-mile length of the depot’s loading platform.
