Skip the Flowers: Give Mom New Memories on the Rails This Mother’s Day

Clarkdale, Arizona — [April 7, 2026] — Some gifts are opened. Others are felt. This year, don’t plan Mother’s Day—experience it. Aboard Verde Canyon Railroad, the itinerary is simple: sit back, take in the wide-open views, and spend uninterrupted quality time together creating new memories.

May 9-10, Mother’s Day rides offer a different perspective. Set against the vibrant backdrop of spring in Arizona, a ride through the Verde Canyon delivers a rare kind of celebration—one built on connection, beauty, and the simple joy of being present. As the train winds through a protected wilderness corridor, guests are treated to lush greenery, blooming wildflowers, soaring eagles, and towering red rock cliffs—all viewed from the comfort of a historic rail line accessible only by train.

More than just a scenic ride, the experience is designed with Mom in mind. Spacious, climate-controlled cars and open-air viewing cars offer both comfort and fresh Canyon air, while attentive onboard service allows families to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the moment together—without the distractions of everyday life.

Before and after the journey, the Clarkdale depot offers even more ways to make the day special—from lunch at the Copper Spike Café to exploring the John Bell Museum, browsing the Boxcar Gift Store, or enjoying sweet cupcakes delivered directly to Mom’s seat onboard. There are three departure options throughout the weekend—11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.

Each ticket includes:

  • Comfortable, living room-style seating in climate-controlled passenger cars
  • Access to open-air viewing cars for panoramic Canyon views
  • A curated charcuterie box with gourmet meats, cheeses, fruit, crackers, and a brownie
  • A Champagne or sparkling cider toast upon boarding
  • A special keepsake created exclusively for Mother’s Day

For those looking to extend or upgrade the celebration, Verde Canyon Railroad’s Uncorked Wine Festival runs throughout the month of May, offering curated Arizona wine tastings at the Depot. Cheers to all the Moms and mother figures out there!

In addition to everything each passenger receives, each Uncorked Wine Festival ticket includes:

  • A punch card for wine tastings at the depot under the shaded pavilion
  • Scratch-made lunch from Copper Spike Café
  • A souvenir wine glass

Looking for a gift for Mom to use at a later date? Gift certificates are available online and can be used year round. Surprise Mom with the gift of adventure.

With spring being one of the most popular times to visit, tickets sell quickly. Advance reservations are strongly encouraged.
