All Aboard for America250: Verde Canyon Railroad Joins Statewide Celebration with a Season of Patriotic Experiences

Clarkdale, Arizona — [April 10, 2026] — Verde Canyon Railroad is proud to announce its official participation in America250, the nationwide commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. Recently selected as an official Arizona America250 Passport site, the Railroad is one of 250 destinations statewide recognized for its role in telling the story of America—inviting guests to experience that legacy firsthand along the rails that helped build the nation.

From May through August, Verde Canyon Railroad will bring the celebration to life with a dynamic lineup of seasonal experiences, honoring both American history and the people who continue to shape it—while teasing even more to come.

The season begins with Mother’s Day weekend, offering families a meaningful way to celebrate the women who guide us, surrounded by the vibrant beauty of spring in the Verde Canyon. Guests can relax, reconnect, and enjoy the journey together—while mothers receive a special commemorative gift. Throughout the entire month of May, the Uncorked Wine Festival adds to the experience, inviting guests to sample curated Arizona wines at the depot before boarding the train.

In June, the celebration continues with Father’s Day weekend train rides, honoring the fathers and father figures who keep life on track. These scenic excursions blend adventure, history, and quality time in one unforgettable experience, in addition to a special memento for Dad. Also launching in June, the Grape Train Escape offers a unique evening experience, pairing onboard wine tasting with breathtaking Canyon views at sunset and under the stars.

The patriotic spirit reaches its peak with a Fourth of July celebration, when the Clarkdale depot comes alive with festive décor, seasonal activities, and an atmosphere rooted in American pride, tradition, and community. It’s a unique way to celebrate—set against the backdrop of one of Arizona’s most iconic rail journeys.

Throughout the season, the depot will be adorned in patriotic décor from May through August, creating a visually immersive environment that reflects the spirit of America250. Additional events, activations, and special experiences will be announced as the celebration continues. “Railroads played a vital role in building this country—connecting communities, driving progress, and shaping the American experience,” said Brandon Hamilton, Director of Marketing and Media. “As we approach this historic milestone, we’re proud to invite guests to celebrate that legacy in a place where history is not just remembered—it’s experienced.”

The Passport250 initiative, developed by the Arizona America250 Commission in partnership with the Arizona Office of Tourism, encourages residents and visitors alike to explore Arizona’s most significant cultural and historical destinations. Participants can download the free mobile passport and visit featured sites—including Verde Canyon Railroad—as part of this once-in-a-generation statewide celebration leading up to July 4, 2026.

From spring through summer, Verde Canyon Railroad offers more than a scenic ride—it offers a journey through living history. As guests travel along the century-old rail line through a protected wilderness corridor, they are reminded of the spirit of exploration, resilience, and connection that continues to define America today.
