Hello,
We rode on the Flagstaff Car. The staff was amazing, explained everything, and kept us well-entertained. We rode 1 way inside the train and the 2nd half outside. The Scenic views were breath taking.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Carrie (with the sparkly glasses) who was our bartender. She was a pro at handling all of the people in our car while remaining friendly and interactive with people. My lunch was the salad and it was very generous and tasty. The snack boxes you receive on the train have a lot of variety and are also very good. The ride itself was comfortable and informative. I highly recommend taking the time to experience this fun activity.
We rode the “Santa Fe Bell” with our guide Mark. The trip was amazing. The train car we rode in was so authentic, we felt like we traveled back in time. Mark, our guide, was an excellent story teller and had us completely engaged the entire train trip. This trip would not have been the same without him. |
Everyone was friendly and fun to be around. I would certainly recommend this experience. KB was full of knowledge as she guided our tour. Don’t miss this Arizona experience!
The seating on the train was so comfortable, the entire staff at the depot and the staff on the train were so welcoming and so friendly. While on the ride we had KB on the outside car explaining the history and the surroundings of the entire trip and there is no one better than her. She was was most knowledgeable and had fun wit in her presentation. I would definitely give her well above a 10. If I ever get to return again I hope she is our tour guide. The information and history, along with the train experience was one of the best parts of my trip . I highly recommend taking the time to experience this as you will not regret it at all. Only negative was being able to hear the recorded guide inside of our train telling about everything but then I am thankful because I would not have gone out on the open car to hear KB and her presentation. The tour provided a large snack tray with wonderful food and you are able to buy drinks on the entire ride. Such a super fun and enlightening experience!
A wonderful experience! Our hostess was Tracy, who gave us so much history about the train and sights along the way. We will ride this train again.
It is the opportunity to, in a sense, view the world as our ancestors once did as they traveled the country by railroads. The train weaves with the land as the click-clack of the track’s echoes through the canyon. The cool wind swirls your hair as you enjoy the incredible landscape views and active wildlife. Located in Clarksdale, Arizona this is a must-see for any Arizonian or visitor alike. When you arrive at the depot, the excursion begins. You check in to receive your ticket and then have the opportunity to check out the John Bell Museum, Boxcar Gift Store, and grab some lunch from the Copper Spike Café prior to your journey. On the train ride you will have a comfortable, assigned seat inside with access to open air cars to really take in all the sights. The tour guides are well informed on the history of the railroad, the canyon, and the wildlife that can be seen. The only challenge of the excursion is finding a spot along the rails in the open-air cars, especially as you approach the tunnel towards the end of the trip. After experiencing this adventure with my parents, visiting from Washington State, I would recommend this to anyone looking for something fun to do in Arizona. Less than a two-hour drive from Phoenix, this train ride gets you out of the big city and back in touch with the beauty of mother nature.
Lissel was our bartender. She was most helpful and friendly. The box meal was delicious. All staff were informative and welcoming. I definitely recommend this trip!
